WORKSHOPS
Working sessions customized for your institutional content
David's workshops are hands-on. Faculty work on their own courses and leave with policies and assignments they can use the following week. Choose the topics that fit your faculty, and David will shape them into a session of the right length.

QUICK START
Responding to AI in your classroom
Shorter topics that help instructors respond to AI in the courses they are teaching this term. Designed to be combined for a longer workshop.
About 1 hour
Building a Classroom AI Policy
Faculty draft a clear AI policy for their own course, one that tells students both what is allowed and why. Everyone leaves with a policy ready for the syllabus.
DEEP WORK
Redesign for learning
Longer topics for faculty ready to rethink a course or an assessment from the ground up.
About 2 hours
Making Decisions About AI Use
Not every course, or every assignment, should treat AI the same way. Faculty work through a framework for deciding when AI supports learning and when it should be excluded, at the department, course, and assessment levels.
About 1 hour
Talking with Students About AI
Honest conversation is one of the most efficient ways to reduce the misuse of AI. Faculty practice opening that conversation and plan how to keep it going throughout the term.
About 2 hours
Course Redesign Around Learning Objectives
Faculty revisit the learning objectives for a course they teach, ask where AI supports learning and where it replaces thinking, and then reshape the course around their answers.
About 1 hour
Responding to Possible Unauthorized AI Use
What should an instructor do when a submission doesn’t sound like the student who wrote it? Faculty work through realistic cases and learn to respond fairly and in line with institutional policy.
About 2 hours
Assessment Redesign
Faculty rework a real assignment or exam so that it measures learning in an age of AI, drawing on principles from cognitive psychology and the learning sciences.
MIX AND MATCH
How institutions often combine topics
A three hour session
Building a Classroom AI Policy, followed by Assessment Redesign
Faculty set expectations for the term, then rework one assignment to match them.
A full day
Making Decisions About AI Use in the morning, followed by Course Redesign and Assessment Redesign
A complete program that moves from deciding where AI belongs to redesigning courses and assessments around those decisions.
Workshops pair naturally with the keynote Thinking and Talking About Integrity in the Age of AI, which sets up the day for all participants.
